Wendy Krochmal is an Antwerp based artist. The overarching theme of her work is the frailness of life and the vulnerability of existence. This theme is explored and given substance in the various subjects that the artist investigates, such as war and the absurdity of violence; the human condition and attraction and love. Using multiple techniques and an interesting array of found objects and materials that have been removed from their usual contexts, she constructs pieces that allow the onlooker to make his/her own associations freely and to stimulate thought.
Wendy’s work has been exhibited at the Jewish Museum of Belgium and was selected in a national competition to be shown at the BOZAR in Brussels. She has made on-site installations in both Belgium and abroad. This includes an art installation, made together with architect Bobby Fogel, in an architectural context titled “Fort Intemporal”. which was shown parallel to the Venice Architecture Biennale 2018 in the beautiful park Forte Marghera on the outskirts of Venice.
